VITA | LONG
Born 1983 in Viersen, Eric Mirbach grew up living in Moenchengladbach and, aged 15, used to spent his freetime putting together a small webzine featuring skateboarding in his hometown. He started dating skateboardphotography on a regular basis when once photographer Bastian Ehl came along and expressed his dissaffection with the status quo. So Bastian was forced to help out. He and Ingo Schaeder did a good job teaching lessons and soon Eric published first flicks in Boardstein Magazine.
After passing his A-Levels in 2003, Eric took the chance of an internship at Matthias Stutte's office (photographer at Theater Krefeld-Mönchengladbach), where he locked himself up in the darkroom and learned a little this and that about studio-photography.
Late 2004 to mid-2005, Eric moved to Regensburg for another internship, this one at Playboard Magazine and Beatnuts Distribution.
Late 2005, Eric started to study photodesign at the University of Applied Science, Dortmund.
The year 2006 brought freelance-jobs for Monster Skateboard Magazine, Blond Magazine, Limited Magazine and a column at skateboard.de.
2007 turned out pretty nice, too, since it brought a first covershot (Boardstein Photoissue) and 8 pages of photography in wellknown Stern Magazine, including three doublepage-spreads.
In September 2007, Eric landed a job as Senior Photographer & Editor for Monster Skateboard Magazine, while still working freelance for miscellaneous magazines (recently Kingpin Magazine joined the list).
